Manuka honey is produced from two closely related plants, both of which are commonly referred to as manuka. Historically, the manuka and kanuka plants have been used by the Maori and early European settlers for medicinal purposes. This honey is strong and with a rich woody, earthy flavor as well as a hint of mineral bitterness. It is ideal in marinades and savory dishes. Each jar is inscribed with a pollen count to ensure the honey is true to its label. The batch can be traced back to the apiary by batch number, and it is tested to verify there is no heat damage.
